—Marijuana is not a scientific term - it was slang created to demonize users during the Prohibition of the 30’s. “Cannabis” is the correct term for flower with these characteristics: psychoactive effects, higher levels of THC, and can produce CBD and minor cannabinoids.
—Hemp is not a scientific term either. This word for Cannabis is now applied by the government for mostly industrially-produced cannabis that has: minimal to no psychoactive effects, THC levels at/below 0.3%, and higher levels of CBD & minor cannabinoids.
Both marijuana and hemp are the same plant…cannabis.
Both marijuana and hemp produce cannabinoids and terpenes.
Primary compounds called cannabinoids produce physical and mental effects, are flavorless/odorless. Cannabinoids include THC, CBD, CBG, THCV, CBN, and CBC. Secondary compounds called terpenes determine smell, taste and nuanced effects. Terpenes include myrcene, pinene, linalool, limonene, eucalyptol, and B-caryophyllene.
